Heather’s marriage to the demanding and domineering Simon is strained by her inability to conceive. Following a disastrous dinner party, she reaches out to a former schoolmate, Carla, who is heavily pregnant and living in a much less privileged economic situation. As their reunion unfolds and Heather’s purpose is made clear, events take a dramatic and unexpected turn. After the success of Julia’s Eyes, Spanish filmmaker Guillem Morales once again astonishes audiences with a US-produced, UK-based psychological thriller, The Wasp. Based on Morgan Lloyd Malcolm’s play of the same title, Morales explores the depths of childhood traumas, emotional scars, and mental issues, providing a rich canvas for the lead actresses to showcase their talents under his direction.
