Renowned actress Paz Vega moves behind the camera and makes her directorial debut with Rita a film about toxic masculinity and domestic violence full of intelligence and subtlety.
Written by Vega herself, the film breaths from her memories of 1980s Spain and is a love letter to her childhood and that unique moment in Spain when the feeling of freedom exploded after the end of the long years of Franco’s dictatorship. Among these freedoms, the law allowing divorce.
All this, with the lightness that provides the vision of Rita, a lovely and mature child caught between her desires as a child and the reality of the violence she senses at home.
