ABOUT THE JURY

DENA BLAKEMAN

Dena Blakeman has over thirty years of experience in the UK film industry and a strong affiliation with the arthouse and independent sector. Before working at New Wave Films she worked at Artificial Eye, with founding/owners Pam and Andi Engel, on 'classic', 'arthouse' films when they were first released; The Piano, Cyrano de Bergerac, Krzysztof Kieslowski 3 Colours and Andrei Tarkovsky's last film The Sacrifice. Dena has also worked for the ICA; Institute of Contemporary Art, United Media and Skyline Inflight Entertainment distributing and acquiring World CInema to various airlines and UK cinemas.

NINA DANINO

Nina Danino is a British artist and filmmaker, she is artist-producer at Temporal Films and Reader in Fine Art, Department of Art, Goldsmiths, University of London. Born in Gibraltar she settled in London after she studied Fine Art where she lives. She is known as an exponent of her generation of experimental film, and for making sound-orientated films, collaborating with experimental singers and vocalists. She has a particular engagement with woman and the performance of spoken word and voice in film and cinema often using her own voice. Her most recent film is on the dramatic theatre of woman and Spanish copla I Die of Sadness Crying for You (2019). Her films are in the British Film Institute National Archive. She is working on an opera project and is currently making Solitude, a feature-length film funded by the Arts Council of England.

PAOLO NELLI

Paolo Nelli, in an Italian writer who lives in London. He is one of the founders and organizers of FILL, Festival of Italian Literature in London and he teaches Italian language and culture at King's College London. He has published a number of novels and short story collections amongst which Golden Boot (Medea's Boots), a powerful coming-of-age novel set in the American West and Trattato di economia affettiva (Treatise on the Economy of Feeling) a literary novel about a family lacking sufficient money during the economic boom in northern Italy, seen through the eyes of a young boy. In 2020 he published his first crime-novel Il Terzo giorno (The Third Day).
