Following the death of his wife Isabella, Ferdinand of Aragon (known with his wife as the Catholic Kings) enters into open war with Phillip, his son-in-law, over the kingdom of Castille, now in the hands of Ferdinand's daughter Joan. Based on Spain’s early 16th century history, The Broken Crown, through the outstanding performances of a carefully chosen cast, brings in a new perspective to this episode of Spanish history by focusing on the unscrupulous lust for power of two men and the fragility of a woman who didn't wish for the weight of a crown and who was devastated when betrayed by her husband and her own father.
