The latest feature by the filmmaker from Barcelona is a collection of five stories that criss-cross with seemingly chance encounters as the film evolves. In Gay's usual subtle comedic key, the characters try to deal with their emotions, at times in ridiculously absurd ways, at times in suprisingly funny ways. As usual, Gay's dialogues, written with his regular collaborator Tomàs Aragay, are brisk and witty in portraying the complexities of humans and their jealousy, untruths, prejudices, distrust, scorn and pleasure in gossipping.
